Robert Zak is a co-author of the series “Trail Camera & Custom Camera Traps” and an admin for the popular Facebook group “Trail Camera Photos and Videos”.  

Bob is a consultant, blogger, and developer of camera trapping hardware and software. Bob retired from Intel in 2022, where he was a Fellow and recognized expert in networking for high performance computing systems.

Since his retirement, Bob is deeply involved in:

  • Trail camera technology

  • Custom camera trap design

  • Firmware hacking and reverse engineering

  • Field testing commercial trail cameras

  • Writing and teaching about camera trapping

His work appears extensively on the Winterberry Wildlife website, where he publishes technical deep‑dives, reviews, and DIY camera‑trap engineering posts.

Bob is a coauthor of several published papers, including an award-winning foundational paper in parallel computing. He holds more than a dozen US patents.
